Service Description
Carn Mor Dearg Arete. The Carn Mor Dearg arête, often referred to as the “CMD” is possibly one of Ben Nevis’s finest mountain journeys (arguably Scotland’s!). In good clear conditions offering expansive views of the North Face of Ben Nevis and an airy view of the Glen’s below. The CMD arête is classed as a grade 1 scramble and requires good fitness and some scrambling or rock climbing experience. This route is a fair bit harder than the “Mountain Path” and therefore shouldn’t be confused; however for the right party this is a wonderful adventure! Summer Walking Checklist. What do I need to be successful? - A good level of fitness - The ability (or at least willingness) to walk in potentially rubbish weather! (Other route options available in this instance). - The Right Equipment What do we provide? - Guide(s) for the day. In summer we work on a ratio of 1:8 What do we not provide? - Transport to the venue (we can however arrange a taxi at your expense.) - Accommodation (again we can recommend places) - Personal equipment, if you’re missing anything please get in touch and we’ll do our best to provide solutions.) Summer Equipment List: - Gloves - woolly hat/ buff - Waterproof Jacket - Waterproof Trousers - Warm jacket - Spare Fleece (optional) - Fleece (to wear) - Thermals (to wear) - Walking trousers (not jeans and preferably not tracksuits) - 25 Litre Rucksack - Headtorch (+ spare batteries) - Blizzard/ Survival Bag - Compass (Optional, we can lend) - Map (Optional, we can lend) - Walking Poles (optional)
